The program not only helps the industry successfully make unique products through R&D grant but also assists in making the right products for higher profitability and better competitiveness.

The implementation of the CITD program is based on "grants, Reward and Assistance Regulations for Promoting Industry Innovation of Ministry of Economic Affairs,” which is stipulated in Article 9, Paragraph 2 of the Statute for Industrial Innovation. Related policies also include the President’s policy blueprint and the "5 2 Innovative Industries Plan" and "Six Core Strategic Industries" of the Executive Yuan.
