Program of Integrated Services on Industrial Transformation “Smart Industry” in the Textile Industry

To cope with the international trends of smart manufacturing, green supply chain and resilient competition, This project aims to promoting the supply chain transformation of Taiwan textile industry by means of the following practices:

A. Professional Consultancy and Services

In form of the services of on-site consultancy, physical visit and in-depth analysis provided by professional experts and project teams, the Program provides the customized services to help the mills with solutions for solving the problems they are facing in business development, investment, smart manufacturing, green technology, and net zero emissions etc. This year, the Program provides more than 148 services to the textile related parties who are looking for solutions, resources and building connection. In addition, a seminar was held to invite brand, supply chain representative, consultancy and mill to share their insights and experience about smart manufacturing for the textile companies to get better idea about the trends, experiences and the possible applications for achieving the transformation in digitalization and smart manufacturing. The team also helped 4 companies applying the government supported projects to enhance their competitiveness in smart manufacturing as well as decreasing carbon emission.

B. International Cooperation and Regional Connection

To strengthen regional links with ASEAN and South Asia countries to help the industry increasing the resilience competitiveness, production capability, market as well as to expand the economic influence in the region. This year, the Program organized 3 bilateral cooperation events helping the industrial players to keep up with the international development of new technologies, products, markets as well as the industrial development in different countries, and furthermore, to facilitate international cooperation, build up international production network and strengthen the industry resilience.

C. Seminars and Business Matching for Industrial Cooperation

Based on the current status of the industry and future development trends, the Program organized 5 seminars with matching purpose to introduce the new technologies in smart manufacturing and green supply chain to enhance the global competitiveness of Taiwan textile industry in the post COVID era.

D. Information Sharing

The Program also implement the information integration and sharing through the project website “Textile Industry Promotion” by organizing the textile related information such as market, technology, training programs, investment etc. which is publicized in different channels. In addition, the monthly newsletter with highlighted information of macro economy and the development of textile industry worldwide, in ASEAN 1 area and Taiwan is sent to subscribers by email to help the government as well as the industry to make better strategies for the continuing changing world. This year, the annual report is focused on two issues: 1. the net zero policy of developed countries, and 2. the analysis on the impact of the Chinese investigation of Taiwan trade barrier. The report will provide a reference for making the policy of promoting the development of textile industry.

E. Talent Incubation Program

By working together with the textile related associations, the Program designed 22 on-job training programs which attracted more than 500 workers joining the training this year. The training is focused on the updated knowledge and skills in R&D, production technology & management, and marketing to facilitate the industrial talent with advanced capability that fits to the development of textile businesses in the future as well as maintain the competitiveness in the global market.
